I had the opportunity to deliver a series of CLO3D workshops in partnership with CLO Virtual Fashion Inc. and CAD for Fashion at Graduate Fashion Week 2024. It was a fantastic few days of hands-on learning, creative exploration, and conversations about the future of fashion. Digital tools are now playing a key role in shaping how we work, and it was exciting to share that with a new generation of designers.
My goal during the event was to introduce students and recent graduates to the practical benefits of working in 3D. Through a mix of structured workshops and informal sessions, we explored how CLO3D can support better design, smarter sampling, and more sustainable workflows.
In this workshop, we used CLO3D to explore how zero-waste principles can be applied within a digital environment. Learners experimented with creative pattern layouts and saw how design decisions impact fabric usage in real time. It sparked some thoughtful conversations about sustainability, especially in relation to sampling and production waste.
This session was all about getting started. I walked learners through the basics of using CLO3D, from understanding the interface to creating a simple garment. It was aimed at complete beginners, with a focus on building confidence and showing that 3D design is accessible, regardless of your background.
Fit remains one of the biggest challenges in garment development. In this session, we looked at how CLO3D can be used to assess garment fit on a virtual avatar before a toile is even made. It gave learners a real sense of how 3D can be used to test ideas, troubleshoot early, and support clearer communication across design and technical teams.
Alongside the scheduled sessions, I hosted drop-ins offering portfolio feedback, CLO3D advice, and general industry guidance. These informal sessions created space for tailored, one-to-one conversations. There’s no one way to build a portfolio, and learners appreciated having the chance to ask specific questions and receive practical feedback.
Outside of the workshops, I had the chance to attend the final runway show, and it was genuinely inspiring. The creativity on display, both physical and digital, was a testament to the next generation of fashion talent. Seeing students confidently merge traditional craft with digital tools showed just how adaptable and forward-thinking today’s graduates are.
Taking part in Graduate Fashion Week 2024 was a real highlight, and I’m proud to have contributed to such a forward-thinking event. A huge thank you to CLO Virtual Fashion Inc., CAD for Fashion, and the Graduate Fashion Foundation for making it possible.
