AI tools are beginning to generate increasingly polished fashion tech packs, but a professional-looking document is not the same as a production-ready one.
In this video, I test five AI tech pack tools from the perspective of a technical designer and product developer: SpecForm OS, AI Tech Packs, Kōbō, The F Word and ChatGPT.
I compare how they handle technical flats, measurements, grading, BOMs, construction details, fabrics, trims and missing information, with a particular focus on where AI can genuinely support the product development process and where human technical judgement is still essential.
The biggest issue I found was not simply incorrect information, but false confidence: documentation that looked convincing while containing measurements, construction details or grading information that had not actually been confirmed.
