Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of joining the UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT) and Faith Johnson from Caramel Rock as part of the Futures for All: Creative Careers Month. The session, “Discover Your Future in Fashion & Textiles”, was designed to inspire young people aged 11-19 to explore the wide range of opportunities within the fashion industry.

During the talk, I shared my own career journey, from traditional fashion design and product development through to 3D digital design and the creation of my business, Fashion Toolbox.
I spoke about how a career in fashion isn’t always linear, how working across different product areas has helped me build versatility, and how ultimately my curiosity for technology led me to specialise in CLO3D and digital fashion training.

Alongside my story, the team from UKFT shared valuable insights into the various career pathways and training routes available across the industry, while Faith Johnson introduced the inspiring work that Caramel Rock is doing to empower the next generation of designers.

We wrapped up the session with some brilliant questions from the audience, everything from how to get started in fashion to what skills really make a difference when breaking into the industry. It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm and curiosity from the next wave of creatives.
