The Pattern Drafter gives you another way to start building garment patterns inside CLO3D, using measurements, garment references and AI-supported inputs rather than drafting every pattern piece manually from scratch.
In this tutorial, I explore the Pattern Drafter as it appeared in CLO3D 2025 and test three different approaches to pattern creation: building a block from measurements, generating a pattern from a garment flat or CAD image, and using an AI text prompt.
I use a raglan sleeve T-shirt block to walk through the measurement-based workflow, including how to generate the initial pattern, import measurement information and adjust the resulting block. I then look at the AI-assisted options to see how CLO interprets visual and written garment information.
You could then have a short bullet section:
A note on generated patterns: I treat Pattern Drafter outputs as a starting point rather than assuming that a generated pattern is automatically ready for production. Pattern balance, fit, measurements, construction and the intended garment outcome still need to be reviewed and adjusted using technical judgement.
Want to build the skills to assess and adapt what CLO generates? I’ve shared the practice approach I recommend for moving beyond individual tools and learning to solve problems through real garment projects in How to Learn CLO3D Faster.
Version note: This tutorial was recorded using CLO3D 2025. Pattern Drafter has continued to develop since the video was published, so some tools, interface details and available options may look different in newer versions of CLO.
