What does Particle Distance actually change in CLO3D?

Particle Distance controls the level of detail used to calculate the garment simulation. A higher value can make a file faster and easier to work with while you are building, while a lower value gives you more detail for refinement and rendering. In this quick tutorial, I show the workflow I use to balance simulation speed with garment quality.

My workflow:

• Start at 20 (build + stabilise the shell)

• Refine at 10

• Small pieces: 5

• Elastics: 5 always

• Rendering: 5 ALWAYS

Working with heavier CLO3D files? Particle Distance is only one part of simulation performance. I’ve also looked at how hardware affects CLO3D performance in my Mac vs PC for CLO3D comparison.
