Moving a garment from CLO3D into Style3D

Working between different 3D fashion platforms can be useful when you are testing software, collaborating with teams using different systems or exploring which tools best suit different parts of your workflow.

In this tutorial, I show the process I used to export a garment from CLO3D and bring it into Style3D, including the export settings, import process and some of the adjustments to check once the garment has moved between platforms.

The important part is not simply getting a file to open. When transferring a digital garment between systems, you also need to consider what happens to the garment geometry, materials, scale and other information that may be interpreted differently by each platform.

What I cover in the tutorial

  • Preparing a garment for export from CLO3D
  • Choosing an appropriate export format and settings
  • Importing the garment into Style3D
  • Checking the garment after import
  • Reviewing materials and garment appearance
  • Making adjustments where information does not transfer exactly as expected
  • Troubleshooting some of the common issues that can arise when moving between 3D platforms

Version note: This tutorial was recorded in March 2025 and reflects the CLO3D and Style3D workflow I was using at that time. Both platforms have continued to develop since the video was published, so some menus, settings and import options may look different in current versions. The tutorial remains useful for understanding the principles of moving a garment between the two systems, but I recommend checking the latest software documentation if you are following the process in a newer version.

Still deciding where each platform fits? I’ve also compared CLO3D, Style3D, Browzwear and Gerber AccuMark from the perspective of different roles, workflows and outputs.
